Bibliotheca Reading Badges Get a New Look: Coming September 2025

It’s the first month following Ritual & Quirk’s first birthday, and something new is on the horizon. The best thing about starting a shop is refining the creations you make until they shine. With that said, we’re excited to announce the launch of new core badges for the Bibliotheca Reading Passport Journal.

The Inspiration Behind the Original Badges

The Bibliotheca Reading Passport Journal started with a vision to incorporate the fun of childhood merit badge-guided adventures into the bookish world. This origin story is what guided the original design of the badges, which mimic the general look and feel of a traditional fabric merit badge, complete with either pithy or tongue-in-cheek iconography and thick merrowed borders.

What’s Changing

Now, with the celebration of our first anniversary (Happy birthday, Ritual & Quirk!) we are ushering in a new badge style to better align with the overall feel of the Bibliotheca Reading Passport Journal. We’re dropping the iconography reminiscent of your typical merit badge, and in its place will be reinvented badges with a focal point on fun, bold typography. What will remain is the cute, witty, and at times, dare we say, whimsical badge names.

The classic badges will be available by request when purchasing a Bibliotheca Reading Journal through the end of this year, before being discontinued. You will also be able to purchase a set of the classic stickers on their own.

For those who already have a Bibliotheca Reading Journal with the classic badges. A set of new core badges can be purchased directly from us using the classic stickers listing page. Simply make a not that you’d like the new core badges if the drop-down is unavailable.
